July already…

Hi everyone,

As usual, I will start with an announcement.

The past week, work was more hectic than ever. So, I wasn’t able to translate as much as I would like to. What more chapter 8 of SSMD was more difficult than I thought. I have to do more research for specific terms every four or five sentences, not to mention that unlike RoWG, SSMD is a completely different world that has invented words that can’t always be find in dictionary.

Apart from invented words, poems and mention of known cultural facts or slangs are another difficulty when translating. I personally admired the translators and editors for I’m really a superstar, because that great novel is hard to translate and to make sense out of it with all the poems and art related culture specific to China.

Unfortunately, no RoWG chapter this time. I didn’t have time to finish translating it. More RoWG next time.

A major modification to SSMD

Hi everyone,

Frodfy has been very kind by pointing out I translate the wrong character for Xue Mo’s surname. In fact, I mix up the traditional character of Zhu with the simplified character of Ning. I made the modification in all SSMD chapters.

Another thing, if you see any errors or words in wrong language or ungrammatical sentences that don’t make sense, feel free to tell me since I have no TLC nor editor to double-check my translation with fresh eyes. What more, English is my third language and Chinese is my fourth language which I’m currently learning.

By the way, here’s chapter 7 of SSMD.

It’s already June!

Hi everyone,

It’s already June. Time sure flies. As I had mention it a while ago, I’m going to pick up some side projects depending on my progress with Record of Washed Grievances. Since I don’t need to translate Magic Chef of Ice and Fire alone anymore, my translation of RoWG will be more steady, so I’m going to add Whispers by Jiu Lu Fei Xiang (轻语 – 九鹭非香) and Poisoning the World : The Secret Service Mysterious Doctor is a Young Beastly Wife (SSMD) by Mu Dan Feng (毒步天下：特工神医小兽妃 – 穆丹枫) as side projects. Whispers is a lighthearted and funny story. While SSMD is funny in another way, I usually like smart and strong female lead and SSMD had it from the chapters I had read up until now. You can check the details of the each side projects by clicking on the images in the revamped project page.

Another thing, as a side project, Whispers and SSMD will be released at a slower pace than RoWG. It means that every time I made a release post, there will always be at least one chapter of RoWG, but there won’t always be a chapter of Whispers or SSMD.

Now, that’s all said and done, here are some releases to start off June.

Qidian 101 by CKtalon & etvolare [reposting]

I have to share this since I think it’s pretty important to give support to Authors for their hardwork in creating all those stories we enjoy and translate. No money involved in it. 

As CKtalon and etvolare said on the page that can be access through the link down there, any chinese novels websites that let you read without a paywall is a pirate one which doesn’t give a cent to authors who are on contracts and live from the money earn through numbers of views, readership, recommendations, etc.

For now, there is only a guide to support Qidian’s authors. I encourage everyone to give some support in a non monetary way. 😀
